If you are a visual artist like me, you've probably wondered at one point, if it's feasible to get your work into a museum, either dead or alive.
A few artist do, a for some, we wonders why... Don't try to understand why the Musée des Beaux-Arts paid several thousand dollars for a red or orange large square, take your chances at understanding the relativity theory instead.
In 2020 I painted a very large, 60x40 inches painting of the Saint-Joseph Oratory just after sunset. I was aware that of of Montreal top firm had redone the whole lighting concept of the cathedral this past few years. I made a conscious effort to keep it realistic. I have a deep respect for this institution and for the people that prayed over there with all their heart and soul.
Knowing to well that this painting is as unique as a potential buyer, I decided not to wait him him or her, and to donate it to the Oratory Museum.
The acquisition committee decided to accept my proposal at their most recent meeting. Therefore, on my next visit to Montreal, I will deliver it myself.
Pretty soon my work is going to get into a museum.
This may not be the best museum in Montreal, but it is surely the highest.
With a name like mine it's no surprise.
